Anthropic has selected Nasdaq for a planned initial public offering targeted for October, according to reporting compiled on September 15, 2026. The contemplated valuation could reach about $2 trillion — a figure that would eclipse SpaceX’s reported $1.75 trillion debut earlier in the year.
The company has told investors it expects a second straight quarter of positive adjusted operating income. Second-quarter revenue was described as up roughly 14-fold year over year, to about $11.5 billion, as enterprise demand for Claude and related agent products continued to climb.
The IPO talk lands in the same week Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei publicly urged frontier labs to slow the pace of capability gains and host independent evaluators. Markets and policymakers are now reading the listing plan against that safety message — and against OpenAI’s separate signal that it would delay its own public offering into 2027.
If the October window holds, the listing would be among the largest technology IPOs on record and would give public-market investors direct exposure to one of the three U.S. frontier labs. Timing still depends on market conditions and on how regulators treat disclosures around model risk.
Key takeaway Anthropic is preparing a Nasdaq listing as early as October at a valuation that could approach $2 trillion, even as its CEO argues the industry should pace frontier progress.
