Sources told Reuters that Anthropic will not drop its IPO prospectus as early as next week. The filing is now expected in late September, with marketing starting mid-October at the earliest—days before the U.S. midterm elections. Timing remains fluid.
The Financial Times reported Anthropic is close to awarding Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs lead roles on a listing that commentators have floated around a $2 trillion valuation. The company is also extending a credit facility to about $15 billion with Morgan Stanley before it goes public.
Investor maps published this week underline how concentrated the private AI stack has become. An Anthropic IPO would be the first true price discovery event for a frontier lab at this scale.
Slippage is not cancellation. It is a reminder that even a company shipping weekly model updates still lives on the calendar of bankers, elections, and risk committees.
Key takeaway. The Claude maker is still pointed at a 2026 listing, but the date moved, the valuation talk is enormous, and public markets will test a governance model built to resist ordinary shareholder pressure.
